Casa De Estudillo - Old Town San Diego, CA

I found this photo online... built in 1827 - 1829. That's about as old as it gets in California!

Hi Eric,
I like how simple you treat your shadow ... and lovely choice of subject.

Nice painting, Eric. Your most recent work seems to be getting more painterly and confident. I love where it is going.

Have you heard about about the Vault?

Those small, well reserved spots of light on the building really make the sense of light work. Bravo!

Thanks Tim... I had so little time I HAD to treat the shadow simply!

Get back to posting... don't take things so seriously. You have plenty of good work to share with us! We're all learning together... no?

Hey John!

Thanks.. I always seem to gain confidence after changing my focus for a while. Landscape seems to be easier after focusing on figurative work... and then the still life gives you the time to work on technical skills which translate back to the landscape.

Yes - I got that letter about the Vault closing. Very sudden! I was looking forward to the plein air show although my work schedule would have made it VERY difficult this year. Carolyn and I were talking about it and we both feel very fortunate to have met some very quality people like you and your family - through the Vault shows... I hope we can get together in the future!

Hey Eric, nice painting! I really dig the color. That blue shadow is perfect. You're way too good for Tirage!
