Must be very enjoyable putting simple things together to paint. I said I was going to start doing still life everyday but I have yet to begin ...
Eric, it's so exciting when you post something new. Your particular style makes me want to paint better. Who would you say are the masters (modern or old) that you tend to emulate?

Exciting? Hey that's great to hear... don't give me an excuse to post so infrequently though - I'm bad enough now!
What a compliment you pay me... thank you.
Emulate? Well I think my first "plein air" instructor, Len Chmiel had a big influence. I had never seen somebody paint so thickly and yet maintain the drawing so well. His design sense was great too and that continues to drive me. Lately - he's gotten more uhm, "colorful" than I care for. Another is Dan Pinkham... pure poetry there.
I love all the usuals too... Fechin, Sargent, Zorn, and recently Antonio Mancini!
I also had a period where I was really captivated my Vulliard. His design sense along with Klimt are tremendous! This painting I posted http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/4677/2330/1600/SeanTupFramed.jpg was in my Vulliard "period"...
